Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA) is the competent governmental authority in charge of patent affairs and the coordinating authority for foreign-related intellectual property issues in Shanghai Municipality, P. R. China. SIPA aims to encourage innovation & creation, to help further exploitation & commercialization of invention, and to promote intellectual property protection & management. It used to be Shanghai Patent Office, and was renamed Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration in the year 2000.
